Psychotherapy
Our practice provides psychotherapy to help people with a broad variety of mental illnesses and emotional difficulties. We offer an integrative psychotherapy approach that can help eliminate or control troubling symptoms such as difficulties in coping with daily life; the impact of trauma, medical illness or loss, like the death of a loved one; and specific mental disorders, like depression or anxiety, so a person can function better and can increase well-being and healing.
When appropriate, we apply several different types of psychotherapy and some types may work better with certain problems or issues. We practice a holistic approach combination when medications (if they are prescribed) are carefully evaluated and/or other therapies are included depending on underlying condition and clinical presentation.
Neuropsychological Testing
Neuropsychology looks at how the health of a person’s brain affects his or her thinking skills and behavior. Neuropsychological tests are specifically designed tasks used to measure a psychological function known to be linked to a particular brain structure or pathway. They usually involve the systematic administration of clearly defined procedures in a formal environment.
Neuropsychological tests are typically administered to a single person, working with an examiner in a quiet office environment, free from distractions. Neuropsychological tests are a core component of the process of conducting a neuropsychological assessment.
Our practice conducts comprehensive clinical neuropsychological assessments for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Our testing program assesses a variety of cognitive functions. Testing can be helpful in approaching an array of difficulties, including:
Attention issues & ADHD
Academic difficulties
Learning disabilities
Social and communication issues
Emotional or behavioral concerns
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Genetic disorders
Head injury or stroke
Difficulty with memory
Dementia
Psychiatric issues
Substance abuse
Neurocognitive Remediation
One of the main components of neurocognitive rehabilitation is the use of a computerized cognitive training program (CCTP), which is closely intertwined with neuropsychological evaluations, psychotherapy and multidisciplinary team (MDT) assessments. MDT closely monitors patient’s progress, evaluates, and outlines a plan for comprehensive and holistic treatment.
CCTP is based on the concept of neuroplasticity, which means that the brain has the capacity to regenerate and adjust to injury, disease, or other debilitating processes by developing compensatory neuronal pathways. CCTP compensates for the lost or diminished functioning in the damaged brain regions or pathways and the brain’s cognitive abilities are boosted by repetitively performing computer based challenging tasks. These reinforcement rehabilitation regiments have been also reported to produce positive effects on performance and motivation. Even more promising, CCTPs were also shown to improve cognitive functioning in an individual’s daily life.
Cognitive rehabilitation interventions are based and empirically validated treatments designed to ameliorate the cognitive, behavioral, and emotional impairments that individuals may have after, for example, traumatic brain injury (TBI). Cognitive rehabilitation can play many roles in facilitating recovery after TBI, such as improving impaired cognitive functions, increasing awareness of injury-related deficits, improving mood, facilitating vocational and community involvement, and reducing the probability of secondary disability.
Dr. Lang is a well regarded consultant in cognitive rehabilitation whose treatments have benefited many patients and improved their cognitive functioning in daily life.
Forensic Testing
Unlike Clinical Neuropsychology, which determines any dysfunction of cognitive functions, the main aim of forensic neuropsychology is to provide answers to a legal matter: the mapped dysfunction – and the psychological situation in the background, in the broadest meaning – and its effects on a person’s ability for understanding and self-determination.
Dr. DuWors is an experienced forensic expert witness and his professional opinions are well regarded by various court systems.
Dr. DuWors and his team cmoplete forensic evaluatiions (in person and remotely) for legal competency cases as well as toxic exposure cases.
Cogmed
Cogmed is an evidenced-based online program that has been developed by cognitive neuroscientist that is aimed at enhancing working memory. When you have a strong working memory, you will be better equipped to manage symptoms of ADHD and other attention deficits.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is typically characterized by deficits or difficulties in social communication and interactions, restricted interests, repetitive behaviors, and sensory sensitivities or processing differences.
We offer testing for you to receive a formal diagnosis of ASD. Once the testing is completed, you will receive a report that has evidenced-based recommendations.
We also offer therapy for those that have autism.
